Lenovo IdeaPad U310: Cheap Ultrabook in check

Lenovo IdeaPad U310 (MAG62GE): Extremely favorable Ultrabook. With prices starting at around 600 euros, the Lenovo IdeaPad U310 is the most inexpensive Ultrabook on the market. We tested the Lenovo IdeaPad U310 (MAG62GE) a mean version for the price of around 700 euros.

Performance: Good for work, nothing to play with
Our test copy of the IdeaPad U310 (MAG62GE) was equipped with an ThinkPad sl400 battery Intel Core i5-3317U (1.7 GHz, Turbo Boost up to 2.6 GHz) with integrated HD Graphics 4000, 4 GB RAM and a hybrid storage solution (500 GB HDD and 32 GB SSD) configured. The overall performance is ok, but could have been much higher. Because instead of two memory modules, only one is used, which leads to bottleneck single-channel RAM. Lenovo given away in 30 to 50 percent 3D performance. Also paired the designers quite a slow hard drive with a fast Samsung SSD, even when only 8 GB are used for the seconds wakeup from standby. The rest is used in operating a large data cache for frequently used programs.

With 111 cd / m², it is just half as bright as a good average display (220 cd / m) and thus even under artificial light completely unfit. The contrast ratio of 662:1 and satisfying the fairly uniform brightness and color distribution raise the display rating although again slightly at the Praxisuntauglichkeit that changes nothing.

Running time: energy for almost a whole working
The 46.2-watt-hour ThinkPad t410s battery keeps our office test 7:03 hours - almost enough for a working office. Under full load, the energy is sufficient for 1:10 hours. Thus, the U310 is in the lower middle of our rankings for our laptops up to 13.3 inches.

Practical equipment in Ultrabook frame
Ultrabooks have originally not a huge equipment. Therefore the narrow ThinkPad sl410 battery housing are not provided. Correspondingly short reads the list of interfaces: USB 3.0 and two times once USB 2.0, HDMI out, Bluetooth 4.0, 100-Mbit LAN, n Wi-Fi and a card reader. A webcam and audio ports are included. This should meet the majority of users get along easily.
